My Canterbury Tales

In the Canterbury Tales, there are a lot of characters I would want to be. The one that stuck out to me the most was the pardoner. The pardoner was an interesting character. He was a very mischievous person. His job was to get money from people in exchange for pardoning their sins. Being a pardoner was a hard job. He had to convince people to pay him to pardon their sins. A challenge that he faced on a daily basis was that people could turn him down and say no to him whenever he asks them for money. He also had to travel a lot to find new victims to ask for money so he didn’t have a specific area where he worked.

The pardoner’s hometown was France. Being a pardoner, you wouldn’t expect him to be married. His family on the other hand didn’t see him much because he’s always moving place to place. His mom didn’t do much and his dad was a knight. Although his dad was a knight, the pardoner had no military training.

The pardoner feels that the world is a terrible place to live in because of people going against the bible; that’s why he wants to pardon people’s sins. He is also a kind gentleman who values money. He believes that swearing, gambling, getting drunk and anything that’s bad are sins and people needed to be pardoned from them. Only for a small fee, he would be glad to do so. His future plan is to be the richest man alive and at this rate, he just might be.
